15 New Movies & TV Shows That You Should Watch on Netflix in December

The weather is getting colder and more snowy, so what’s a better way to spend that time inside and catch up with your Netflix subscription. Here are 15 new must-see movies & TV shows coming to Netflix in December. Happy viewing!!

    1. A Knight’s Tale. An extremely underrated movie, A Knight’s Tale features a young Heath Ledger, Shannyn Sossamon, and Alan Tudyk. It was a moderate hit in 2001 and rewards repeat viewings. Now that it’s on Netflix Instant, here’s your chance to watch Paul Bettany as Geoffrey Chaucer. Available Now!
    1. Almost Famous. Make no mistake about it, Almost Famous is Cameron Crowe’s best movie. It’s full of great music and really captures the 70s in all of its bell bottom glory! If anything, Almost Famous features an all-star cast, including Patrick Fugit, Billy Crudup, Kate Hudson, Frances McDormand, Jason Lee, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Fairuza Balk, Anna Paquin, Noah Taylor, and Zooey Deschanel, along with Rainn Wilson in a very small, yet comical role and Terry Chen as Ben Fong-Torres. Crazy. Available Now!
    1. American Beauty. The feature film debut from Sam Mendes, who also directed Skyfall, which is also on Netflix, American Beauty won the Oscar for Best Picture in 1999. That’s good enough for me! Available Now!
    1. Knights of Badassdom. This is one of the best comedies about LARPing you’ll ever watch! It stars Steve Zahn, Summer Glau, Peter Dinklage, and Danny Pudi. Available Now!
    1. Troop Beverly Hills. If nostalgia is your thing, then Troop Beverly Hills is for you. Troop Beverly Hills is one of the most nostalgic movies you can watch on Netflix in December. It features Shelly Long in one of her first post-Cheers movies and a very young Jenny Lewis for all you Rilo Kiley fans. Available Now!
    1. American Horror Story: Coven. The third season for the real horror anthology, American Horror Story: Coven is a must for fans of the FX series. Maybe FX should’ve added this one to Netflix in October for Halloween. Available on December 6th.
    1. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. The long awaited sequel to the cult classic Anchorman: The Legend of Ron BurgundyAnchorman 2: The Legend Continues reunites Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and David Koechner in one of the best comedies of 2013. There are great cameos and ridiculous comedy. It also features Will Ferrell serenading a shark. Available on December 6th.
    1. Sharknado 2: The Second One. I really don’t get the love Sharknado receives, but once a movie is on Netflix Instant, I’m most likely going to give Sharknado 2: The Second One a shot. Watch Ian Ziering and Tara Reid kill sharks flying in the air. Available on December 6th.
    2. Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown (Season 3). Anthony Bourdain is one of the most entertaining personalities out there. I’d watch the man, literally, do anything, even watching him watch Netflix. Available on December 8th.
    1. The Village. While M. Night Shyamalan gets a bum wrap today (and trust me, it’s deserved), his last really good movie was The Village. I might be in the minority on this one, but I enjoy this movie. Available on December 11th.
    1. The Wolf of Wall Street. One of the most controversial movies of 2013, The Wolf of Wall Street is a must for any Martin Scorsese fan. It’s loud and in-your-face, but it’s completely a great work from a master filmmaker. Available on December 11th.
    1. Marco Polo (Season 1). This is the latest Netflix Original from the online streaming service. It’s also reportedly one of the most expensive TV shows in 2014, so with that kind tag, it’s worth a watch. The complete season one is available on December 12th.
    1. Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion. One of the most underappreciated movies of the 90s, Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion will surely find a new audience in 2014. I have a feeling we’re going to be seeing a lot of this movie on BuzzFeed and Vulture before it’s released in Netflix. Stay Tuned. Available on December 22nd.
  1. The Trip to Italy. The sequel series to Steve Coogan & Rob Brydon’s comedy hit The Trip is available on December 23rd. Catch up with the original Trip, which is also on Netflix.
  2. Comedy Bang! Bang! (Season 3). Comedian Scott Aukerman and musician Reggie Watts return for season three of Comedy Bang! Bang!, the TV series based on the very popular podcast. It’s an absurd one to watch and definitely worth a look.  Available on December 28th. Maron is also available on December 28th.

One of the best horror films of 2014, Oculus is coming to Netflix on December 3rd. Check it out!!
